Welcome to Weather Patterns Blog

We live in a world where weather patterns as we knew them are changing. There are plenty of news articles, tweets and scientific publications that have published and explained the irrefutable evidence that the planet is warming due to anthropogenic causes. It has become amply clear that while we do everything we can to reduce greenhouse emissions, there is a clear need for us to adapt to this new reality. As such, quantifying, understanding and responding to changing weather patterns is paramount.

However, on a day to day basis for people and businesses alike, is it easy or indeed even feasible to track these unusual patterns? Are there websites where we can just go lookup the 'weather' last season for your city or town as easily as we can lookup financial results of a publicly traded company? Can changes to local weather patterns be easily communicated or incorporated into routine decision making? We, of course believe all this and more is possible and it is time to modernize the way in which businesses manage weather related risks.

We realized that raw weather dataset availability will continue to make progress (freely available reanalysis datasets, satellite feeds, radar) and capabilities to derive insights from them will dramatically improve (cloud processing and ML), but systems that purposefully combine these elements need to be built. While we are in the process of building these systems, we will share our learnings with the broader community in this space.

Stay tuned!
